If you haven't heard of the P90X fitness plan then you're in for a treat. That is, if you're into physical fitness that is intense and works. The P90X will get you into the best shape of your life if you commit to it. However, not many people are fit enough to jump right into the P90X fitness plan. So, if you're out of shape to start with or haven't worked out in a while then it's best to slowly work your way into it. You can do this by doing some form of exercise either at home or at the gym.

To really prepare for P90X you will also need to buy the entire program and watch it. After all, you need to know what to prepare for, so you can modify the exercises. Doing a modified version of P90X will get you get ready for the real thing.

It's all making sense now isn't it? If you're really serious about the ability to get to a high level of fitness such as the P90X then you have to start somewhere. Many people make the mistake of trying to do P90X cold turkey and give up. Don't be one of them, but instead prepare your body for the P90X workout.

Okay, you buy the P90X program and the equipment needed, which is a set of dumbbells or resistance bands, door pull up bar and a yoga mat.

Now, dedicate time to watch the P90X videos and design a modified version of the real P90X. Take exercises from each section of the P90X, especially the ones that you know you can't do 'YET' and modify them to a version you can do.

The P90X is designed for home, but there are parts of it that you can do at the gym. So, why not add exercises from the P90X into a gym workout? Doing this will escalate progress, so that you will get in shape for the P90X fitness plan faster.

Eventually you will be able to do the entire P90X workout and not need the gym membership anymore. Naturally, you can still combine P90X with a gym workout and do a little of both if you feel like that's what works best for you.


P90X Workout System

Just in case you know nothing about P90X let's go into a few details on the P90X System, so that you know what to expect before you buy it. As you may have figured out it is a tough fitness program that requires hard work and commitment. This is why you may need to prepare ahead of time to be able to do it.

P90X is done in phases in phase one you work on movement and form. Day one is strength training for chest and back plus abs (aka ab ripper). Day two is plyometric exercises used to develop muscular power in sports. Day three is strength training for shoulders and arms plus abs. Day four is yoga and day five is legs and back plus abs again. Day six is kempo a form of martial arts.

Phase two is focused on gaining strength with some muscle group changes. For example, day one is shoulders, triceps and chest plus abs. Day two is still plyometrics, whereas, day three is biceps and back plus abs. Day four is still yoga with day five being back, legs and abs. Day six is kempo again.

Phase three is all about extreme muscle confusion. The goal is to take muscles to failure and change it up, so that muscles are forced to work harder. You alternate phase one and two workouts for five weeks.

The P90X workout system also contains a nutrition plan which has three phases. Phase one is the Fat Shredder, which is a high protein diet, the entire break down is 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat.

Phase two of the P90X nutrition plan is the Energy Booster the breakdown consists of 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat. It is designed to provide extra energy and is safe to use as a mainstay diet for as long as you like.

Lastly, phase three of the P90X is an athletic diet that consists of a very high energy eating plan designed for maximum results this is why it is called the Endurance Maximizer. The breakdown is 20% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat.

The P90X workout system is an excellent fitness program that works if you do it consistently. It is not a workout for those who aren't seriously into fitness. This is not a just get by workout it is intense and they let you know this from the start.

Preparation for P90X workout should be done one step at a time, so that you start at your own level of fitness and work your way up to a higher level at your own speed. This way you will stick with it and not give up.
